How much does the BoldChat iPhone App cost and where do I get it?
The BoldChat iPhone Application is priced at a one time cost of $9.99 and is available in Apple's App Store which can be accessed through iTunes or directly from an iPhone device. Searching the store for "boldchat" will successfully direct you to the application.
What do I have to do in order use the BoldChat iPhone App?
There are four necessary steps in order for you to be ready to view website visitors and chat with them via the BoldChat iPhone App. There are fewer steps if you are already a customer.
You must have an account with Bold Software. The account can be a trial account or a paid account. You can activate a new account by filling out the form.
Using the Bold Software desktop application you need to install chat button and visitor monitoring HTML code onto one or more of your web pages. When you open an account and activate a trial (see step 1), you'll be instructed on how to do this. If you're an existing customer and have already deployed the HTML code, you do not need to redeploy it.
Log into the Bold Software client application. Navigate to the operator setup: Setup > Account Setup > General > Operators. Choose the appropriate operator and click "Edit". Click the "Other Settings" tab and then check the "Allow Login From Mobile Device" under the "Operator Service Settings". Click save.
Download the BoldChat Live Chat iPhone App from Apple's App Store and install it on an iPhone.
Can I use the BoldChat iPhone App during a free trial?
Yes, though you will have to pay the $9.99 one-time cost to download the application from Apple.
What BoldChat product do I need to have in order to use the iPhone App?
The BoldChat iPhone Application will work across all BoldChat editions.
Can I use only the BoldChat iPhone App?
Not really. You need access to the Bold Software desktop client in order to perform administrative tasks like setting up operators and generating the HTML code for your website.
Do I need to purchase a separate BoldChat license to use the iPhone App?
It depends. Being logged into the iPhone application is the same as being logged in via the Bold Software desktop or web client which means it consumes a concurrent license. If you want a particular user to either be logged in through one method or the other then, no, you don't need an additional license. If you want iPhone access so that new users can login simultaneously to your existing users, then yes, you'll need to increase your license count.
What features does the BoldChat iPhone App include?
The BoldChat iPhone Application has three functional areas as follows:
Visitors
see a list of visitors, see detail about one particular visitor, invite visitors to chat, sort visitors by website/time on site/country
Chats
see a list of all chats, select a chat assigned to you, chat with visitors, manage multiple chats assigned to you, access canned messages while in chat
Status
set your status to Available [Chats can be assigned to you], or...
set your status to Away [you can view everything, but no chats will be assigned to you]
The Application also includes a notification capability which will alert you of incoming chats.
Does the BoldChat iPhone App include any special features?
The BoldChat iPhone application has taken advantage of the iPhone development environment to include several features that don't appear in the Bold Software desktop client. They include:
Suggested Messages: The application 'reads' incoming messages from your visitors and suggests possible canned message responses based on text matching.
Flick-Through-View: When you are engaged in multiple chats, you can easily flick through them all. Color coding identifies those chats needing your response.
